A green commitment: Replacing Black Friday with reforestation

We believe in making a different commitment in a world often driven by sales and discounts. We've decided to forego Black Friday at Norse Interiors for the fourth year in a row. Why? Because we believe in a longer-lasting commitment that goes beyond price drops and weekend sales.

Instead, we dedicate November to giving back to the environment and showcasing how people can breathe new life into older pieces. This year, just like the past three November, we're pledging to plant at least one tree for every order via the organization One Tree Planted. Our primary source of material is wood, and we find it essential to replenish what we use. It's our way of saying thank you to Mother Earth.

A history of giving back

Over the past three years, our reforestation efforts have been nothing short of remarkable. For three consecutive years, we've sponsored planting over six acres of new local U.S. forest, and we couldn't have done it without your support. It's a testament to the impact we can make when we come together for a common cause.

Upcycling and the sustainable movement

Upcycling, DIY-ing, and sustainable practices are growing in popularity within the furniture industry, and for good reason. It's a movement that aligns perfectly with our values of creating more sustainable homes, reducing waste, reusing materials, and adopting a sustainable mindset in every design choice.

This November, our main content on social media showcases the essence of upcycling. We took two old 15-inch Besta frames, breathed new life into them, and kept them out of landfills. We even kept it to a tight budget, showing how easy it is for customers to paint their IKEA frames at home. We created an entirely new storage piece by painting the frame with the closest Benjamin Moore color match and adding two 15-inch Maya doors from Norse in our luxe green finish. We chose the luxe green finish to highlight this November because it's a hue that reflects the natural world around us. Our commitment to sustainability is a philosophy that we incorporate into every aspect of our work.

How you can help this November?

As November unfolds, we invite you to join us in this green commitment. Every time you choose Norse Interiors, you're not just selecting stylish and customizable furniture—you're also contributing to our reforestation project and reducing the amount of furniture that ends up in landfills. Together, we can make a positive impact, one piece of furniture and one planted tree at a time.

This November, let's step away from the frenzy of Black Friday and embrace a commitment to nature, sustainability, and a greener future. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Together, we're making a difference.

Results

For every order made, we planted a tree. Together we planted 665 trees, covering roughly 5 acres of land with new forest. This contribution removed approximately 122 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This is the equivalent of offsetting 1 year's worth of carbon consumption from about 52 people.

Thank you for being a part of our mission to give back to nature. Each tree donated is carefully selected and planted to restore the local ecosystem, re-establish wildlife habitat, and reduce the likelihood of future wild fires.
